Wow the stories this small leather suitcase could tell!
Due to the blue ink spill on the moire silk lined interior, it appears this suitcase held the owners writing implements for those detailed letters home whilst on the ‘Grand Tour’ of Europe.
Vintage hotel luggage labels adorn the exterior including “Villa D’Este Grand Hotel”, “Hotel Royal Danieli Venezia”, “Hotel Porto Rosso Firenze”, “Palace Hotel Bruxelles”, “Grand Hotel Hungaria ET Dunapalota (Ritz) Budapest”. This truly is a fabulous historical find and would look wonderful displayed in either a residential or commercial space (and a wonderful memory if you've stayed at any of these hotels, whose stickers adorn this).
We haven't cleaned locks or leather and there is some wear on the leather corners.
The indication from the stickers places this suitcase to approximately Circa 1880’s.
Origin - no markings on the suitcase, however we believe it could have been made in England, France or Germany.
